Every production system includes 30 days of burn-in. From day 31 it runs on Care. Mid-market custom programmes still land in the A$25k–$80k range when the first process is not a productised kit.
If a vendor will only quote day rates and a “discovery”, ask them which process will be live in four weeks. That is the question that sorts implementers from slide decks.
